Sturdy Memorial Hospital

Architects Steffian Bradley Architects
Size 12,000 sq.ft.

Sturdy Memorial Hospital originally opened in 1913 as a 15-bed general hospital. Over a hundred years later, this community hospital is still a thriving, locally controlled, not-for-profit acute care facility servicing residents of 13 surrounding towns, including the State of Rhode Island.

Consulting Engineering Services (CES) is providing MEP/FP engineering design for renovations to a former core and shell space on the second floor of this inpatient/outpatient hospital. Upon completion, this portion of the hospital will be a medical-surgery bed suite. This new suite will include all new plumbing systems, the installation of a sprinkler system, new medical gas and vacuum systems. HVAC systems will include fan-coil units, new exhaust systems for restrooms and other miscellaneous spaces, and the installation of DDC components for room temperature control. All new lighting, exit signage and emergency lighting will be installed including fire alarm components, telephone and data. Nurses will have an all new call system which will be integrated with the existing systems throughout the hospital.
