The MDC purchased and completely renovated an existing building at 231 Brainard Road. This 22,000 square foot facility had to undergo a $5,000,000 complete building renovation to fit the needs of the MDC, and their facilities and maintenance departments. This building received all new core systems including a complete new high efficiency boiler plant, complete new HVAC systems including direct digital controls, new electrical service and distribution, new fire alarm and a full sprinkler retrofit. The project was constructed in two phase, and allowed for occupancy of phase I while phase 2 was underway.

The scope included a carpenter shop, machine shop, welding area, large group instructional spaces, large employee lunch rooms, shower areas, and office and conference spaces. The building project included all new roofing, highly efficient spray foam insulation, new windows and entry doors to breathe new life into this former multi-tenant retail building in the South Meadows of Hartford.
