The Mortensen Library is the main library on the University of Hartford campus. With massive changes in technology and library usage since the library was built in 1969, the library is evolving to meet the needs of the 21st century with a renovation and addition project to update the library to current standards. The first phase of revamping the library will include a three-story addition to the north side of the building with floor-to-ceiling windows on each level, providing beautiful scenic views of the Park River. The main level of the new addition will house a high-tech learning commons center and the upper levels will be open to overlook the lower learning area. A contemporary floor plan combines quiet study spaces with portable, electronic-friendly furniture.

The Allen Library will move into the new, much larger, 6,475 sq. ft. space on the lower level of the Mortensen Library and will maintain its current identity providing music and dance materials support to the Hartt School of Music.

Working with the design team and campus officials, CES provided complete MEP/ FP engineering design services for this renovation and addition project.
