Innovative design measures incorporated into this project include a geothermal cooling system with two 1,500 ft. deep standing column wells. These deeper than average geothermal wells, situated far within the earth’s lower crust, will provide a more stable temperature range of 50 to 55°F, reducing and/or eliminating the need for standard air conditioning. |

The modifications to the existing solar heating system separated the supplemental space heating from the primary pool water heating. This required modifications to the solar collector piping system and controls. |

The new Blatchford Learning Center houses a media center and classrooms. The building was designed to provide a centrally located media center as well as a dynamic visual element at the heart of the campus. |
Loomis Chaffee
Ice Rink

The 5,300 square foot addition to this ice center includes locker rooms, offices and a zamboni garage. New plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, lighting and power systems were retrofitted and/or upgraded for most areas of the facility, including the new addition. |
Westover School
Performing Arts Center

Electrical design for this project included high-voltage 4.8 Kilovolt service, and a tie-in with the existing campus loop. New air diffusers and HVAC ductwork were carefully coordinated with theatrical lighting for optimum climate control. |
The Winchendon School
New Classroom Building
Winchendon, MA
A six-ton split system is well concealed within an interior attic space, offering a comfortable learning environment with minimal mechanical noise. This project was completed ahead of schedule, under budget and with no change orders. |
Suffield Academy
Dormitories
Suffield, CT
Suffield Academy was established in 1833, and for 100 years served as the town’s only means of a high school education. Today, this private school has nearly 400 students, including 250 students living on campus.Each of these five new dormitories are 8,000 square feet and accommodate up to 46 students. The mechanical design includes boilers for each building and a complete fire protection system. The electrical design includes site power distribution to each building as well as life safety systems and architectural lighting systems. |
Suffield Academy
Squash Center
Suffield, CT
This addition adjoins the existing Perry Gymnasium and consists of four squash courts with viewing areas. Mechanical ventilation systems were designed to provide proper air exchange rates to minimize humidity and maintain temperature control. Sports lighting was incorporated for proper illumination and durability. |
St. Augustine School

St. Augustine School is a Roman Catholic co-ed school for grades Pre-K - 8 located in the south end of Hartford. CES is responsible fro the design of a new fire alarm system to bring the school up to the latest code standards for life safety. |
St. Thomas More School

As a catalyst for the modernization master plan of the St. Thomas More campus, CES provided engineering services for the new Administrative Building. This building was designed to provide adequate space for all administrative functions while blending with the existing architecture of the campus. |
